I would like to register my dismay at the building of a road through the Stonehenge landscape of of exceptional prehistoric interest. This astonishing landscape is one of the most significant prehistoric places in Europe today. It is still a place of active scientific study. And yet the government wishes to pursue the building of a road that will undermine the integrity of the site. The consequences for us are

  1. A loss evidence about the distant past of this place which will leave a gap in our knowledge.
  2. A loss of heritage for future generations
  3. A loss of respect for our ancient history. If this exceptional site can be destroyed like this then so can any other site that gets in way of future government development.
  4. A loss of respect internationally for ancient sites. For instance Stonehenge if often compared to the pyramids of Egypt. Will this destruction make it easier for other states to take less care of their own priceless heritage. Please re-route the A303. Please enable us to keep our heritage in tact.
