The possibility that there might be any damage to this World Heritage Site, its archaeology and setting, described by UNESCO as a ‘landscape without parallel’ is one of the most distructive plans to face Stonehenge. I remember a scheme put forward in the 1980's to improve access and protect the stones that used the ancient path. I find it appalling that nothing has been done to protect the site from further damage from traffic. UNESCO’s international advisers say the scheme should not go ahead in its present form so there needs to be more time spent looking at options. Not dreaming up more schemes for roads and tunnels.
