My deep concerns about the application are as follows :

  1. Irreparable damage to the World Heritage Site of Stonehenge, its archaeology and surroundings, eg Blick Mead Mesolithic site; it is described by UNESCO as a 'landscape without parallel'. 2.UNESCO's international advisers state the scheme should not advance in its current form.
  2. The consultation did not consider less damaging options.
  3. The 'free' stunning view from the road would be lost;new arrangements would involve payment to view. 5.Disturbance to wildlife (rare stone curlew and great bustard birds) from construction noise and loss of countryside. NB Serious decline of wildlife, State of Nature Reports, 2013 & 2016, Wildlife Trusts.
  4. Noise and air pollution from faster traffic, contributing to climate change, and contrary to government targets to limit CO2 emissions and reduce air pollution, causing premature deaths. 7.Leading authority on British Mesolithic, [Redacted], along with 22 expert archaeologists, say A303 scheme sets dangerous precedent. Pearson says : 'The Stonehenge WHS is one of the few places, not just in Britain, but in the world, where you can see a special, sacred landscape developed over thousands of years.'
