I am very seriously concerned by the proposal to push a tunnel through a registered site of such importance as the whole Stonehenge area. When a World Heritage site so famed as this is under clear threat of disturbance flies in the face of Britain's normal respect for its historic treasures. That National Trust and Heritage England/ English Heritage have failed in their duty to protect our heritage placed in their trust is even more concerning leaving only the current government to make a balanced judgement. Governments have come and gone over hundreds of years and the thought that now we are left with such an important decision to be taken which will impact for ever the true value of the site seems totally irresponsible unless careful archeological advice is heeded. If the scheme does go ahead the question will always be raised. 'But who on earth allowed this to go ahead?'
