My main concerns with the proposal is the apparent ignoring of advice from UNESCO regarding what is a world heritage site and the potential for irreparable damage to the WHS, its archaeology and setting. UNESCO’s international advisers say the scheme should not go ahead in its present form. Furthermore, from what I have read there seems that have been little will to explore alternative options that would not damage the WHS. I am also concerned about damage to Blick Mead Mesolithic site and its setting. Finally, I am extremely upset at the loss of the view from the road and need to pay to see the Stones in future. Stonehenge has been part of the British people’s heritage for thousands of years and so should remain visible from distance. While I have no objection to paying to get close to the stones, this should not be the only option by which to see them.
