From discussing the issue with many people in my local area, and some being archaeologists this decision to make a tunnel will cause irreparable damage to the WHS, its archaeology and setting. There is great concern about the damage to the site and setting and all of the area around the henge. It would be much better for the interest of the site to have been given a wider range of alternatives that would not damage the heritage site. I for one drive past this site each time I go east of where I live. It is a privilege to see it for free without paying costs to see it, which would happen in the future if these plans went ahead. This site is for all, and shouldn’t be a commodity or a commercial venture. I wish to still be able to see the stones in their natural state, enjoying different moods and atmosphere and weather conditions through the seasons, which I believe is what part of its purpose was.it is for the public to enjoy by all public alike whether you are rich or poor.
