I have many concerns over the proposed tunnel that is planned to run close to the World Heritage Site of Stonehenge. Firstly, the passage of lorries carrying dangerous cargo will, under current regulations, have to bypass the tunnel and travel by an alternative route. I am not aware of anything in the planning documents that addresses this problem. Second, Damage to the site may be caused inadvertently by construction processes vehicles and arrangement for drainage of the tunnel. Archeology is an evolving science and information concerning the site may be made impossible to collect because of site damage. Third, very Low frequency vibrations spreading from the massive concrete construction of the tunnel may impact the ground sensors currently in use to safeguard the site from intrusion and may have an impact on the stability of the stones and ground-water flow.
