The proposed dual carriageway scheme would intrude into the UNESCO World Heritage Site, causing irreversible harm to the scenery, wildlife habitats, geology, and possibly destroy archaeological sites that could never then be investigated, notably at Blick Mead. The consultation exercise published no alternative schemes to avoid blighting the WHS. To encourage the growth of motor traffic by a construction so damaging to Stonehenge's setting is simply vandalism. Please consider the longer-term responsibility we have to our descendants.
