  1. There has been insufficient consultation to discuss alternative solutions that would not damage the World Heritage Site.
  2. UNESCO has described it as a "landscape without parallel" and it would be unconscionable to damage the archaeology of this precious and unique site. Indeed, I understand that UNESCO’s international advisers say the scheme should not go ahead in its present form.
  3. The site could not be properly viewed from the road and the issue of paying to see the Stones in future is a retrograde step.
  4. Very concerning is the disturbance of rare bird species. I understand the Stone Curlew and Great Bustard would be adversely affected and they must be protected.
  5. Finally, the new infrastructure and increased noise from faster moving traffic would adversely affect the ambience of the site. The proposal is totally incompatible with this site and we should be doing all that is possible to preserve our history and the world-wide reputation of this amazing place.
