- Stonehenge is a site of international importance.
- The entire landscape around Stonehenge is part of the monument; especially the Mesolithic site at Blick Mead.
- Damage to the environment critically endangers a full understanding of the monument;
- and, as far as Blick Mead is concerned, critically endangers understanding of one of the few remaining Mesolithic sites in Britain.
- All this so that motor vehicles can cut a few seconds off their journeys to and from the west country.
- If the tunnel is essential - and there's little evidence of this - the portals should be placed well outside the Stonehenge landscape.
