I am a UK citizen presently resident in France. I see this World Heritage Site as of inestimable value, not just for England, nor even Europe, but for the world entire. It is meaningless unless surrounded by the great prehistoric landscape in which it was created; it should be a place of quiet and calm far from the 21st century. There should be nothing of today's world anywhere near it. The National Trust & other organisations do much to protect & preserve; but its economic & touristic value are a short-term way of looking at a site that we guard for future generations. No road or other modern infrastructure should come anywhere near it.
