These plans for an expressway so close to Stonehenge will create irreparable damage to this World Heritage Site, its archaeology and setting, and described by UNESCO as a ‘landscape without parallel’. Even Unesco's advice has been to say the scheme should not go ahead in its present form. There are many concerns, which include:
- Concerns about damage to Blick Mead Mesolithic site and its setting
- Lack of alternative options in consultation that would not damage the site
- Loss of the view from the road & in the general landscape
- intentions to make people pay even more to this Henge in the future
- Disturbance of rare bird species such as Stone Curlew and Great Bustard, but also a lot of the small critters habitat live in the area.
- Increased noise from faster traffic which disrupts the overall meaning and sense of this site which was chosen by our Ancestors as a SACRED SITE, and would be absolute proof that 20th & 21st century road planning & traffic management is not wholistic or eco-friendly and shows total disregard for historical meaning & context of this area in a religious, symbolic and sacred way.
