Purely and simply, I object to the proposal on the grounds that it will, firstly, interfere with the undeniable uniqueness of this World Heritage site in that it violates the ground on which it is built and, secondly, the excavations will undoubtedly damage or destroy as yet undiscovered ancient artefacts. As regards the latter, such evidence continues to be found from year to year. I would hope that the route be reconsidered even if the cost is higher: the current proposals could destroy something of immense historical value.
