Stone Henge is a renowned World Heritage Site, and its importance stretches far beyond its locality. Considerations important to all such sites should be taken into account, not just local issues.

The setting of the site will be spoilt, detracting from the impact of the stones, which is part of its importance.

The damage done by the works will be irreversible, destroying valuable historical evidence for ever.

It is likely that there are more finds yet to be made, many of which will be destroyed before they have been found and researched.

This sets a dangerous precedent for other historical sites, making it easier to damage or destroy important pieces of our heritage.
