I am concerned that any major construction works will damage the integrity of the archaeological features of Stonehenge and the surrounding areas - archaeology is as much about the preservation of features underground as the remains that can be seen above ground and any major disturbance to the ground in this area will risk irreparable damage to the underground archaeology. In addition, I have concerns that the integrity of the landscape will suffer permanent damage by the proposed works - the setting of the henge and the ability to see the outlying archaeological features in context, provide a unique and globally important landscape that is visited and appreciated by hundreds of thousands of visitors every year. I also believe that the proposed plans will be of detriment to the visitor existence - visually and audibly (from the extra traffic noise). Finally, this site is a World Heritage Site - i.e. it is not just of local importance, it is not just of national importance, but it is recognised and designated as being of global importance and should therefore be attracting our highest levels of protection from all development.
