People tend to see Stonehenge as just the obvious megaliths, but it is part of a much wider neolithic landscape, which we are just starting to explore and understand, and which could be irreparably damaged by a tunnel. Any proposed solution to the current traffic problems needs to take into account both the heritage and wildlife value of the site, and the climate implications of encouraging more and faster traffic in general.
