I urge you to reconsider this tunnel and road plan. Stonehenge is a world reknowned site of historical interest that brings thousands of tourists into the country every year. We must preserve it for the future. This plan will bring potential damage to the site and whilst I appreciate that the A303 has heavy traffic this is a short sighted plan that does not make allowance for this famous and most valuable part of our heritage.

There are many reasons not to go ahead with this plan other than the ones that will financially benefit from it! This is a World Heritage Site - there is no other site like this on the earth. Are we really going to consider damage to this ancient part of our British heritage? There have to be alternatives to create greater ease for the A303 road. A tunnel underneath the stones or any part of the site is absolute madness! We do not have a clue what this will create for the stability of the stones or the earth around it. A huge trunk road that does not allow the stones to even be seen unless you pay a hefty fee is a gross injustice; the view of the stones from a distance is a heart-lifting experience and it must be possible to widen the road to allow greater ease than obliterating the view altogether. There are species of birds that will be disturbed; this site really should be so hugely protected as one of the few remaining parts of our neolithic heritage.
