The plans for the Stonehenge Tunnel as they currently stand have serious negative implications for the landscape, archaeology and surrounding environment,as follows : · Irreparable damage to the World Heritage Site, its archaeology and setting.
· UNESCO's advisers say the scheme should not go ahead in its present form. It is also possible the site will lose its world heritage status, a blow to UK tourism
· Will cause damage to the Blick Mead Mesolithic site and its setting.
· Lack of alternative options that would not damage the World Heritage Site in the consultation.
· Loss of view from the road and need to pay to see the Stones.
· Disturbance of rare bird species (Stone Curlew and Great Bustard).
· increased noise from more and faster traffic
