My concern is that this would cause permanent damage to the World Heritage Site, its archaeology and setting and there are concerns about damage to Blick Mead Mesolithic site and its setting.
The loss of view from the road and need to pay to see the Stones is one that will effect many who pass the stones and pass this way just to do so as part of our local, national and world heritage.
Those who are genuinely involved in alternative beliefs are impacted very seriously, you wouldn't drive a road through a cathedral so why would you affect this valuable site with an intervention such as this with the additional increase in noise and faster traffic?
Additionally there is the grievous effect this would have on wildlife in the area including the rare Stone Curlew and Great Bustard.
Given the lack of alternative options that would not damage the World Heritage Site in the consultation and the advice given by UNESCO's advisers who say the scheme should not go ahead in its present form, I formally submit my representation.
