I am opposed to the building of a tunnel for several basic reasons.
- The huge cost at a time when the country simply cannot afford it.
- The simple building of another lane on the A303 would alleviate the current bottle neck for fraction of the cost of a tunnel.
- The tunnel will uncover and destroy immense number of buried historical treasures.
- The time to finish a tunnel will run into generational timeframe.
- Costs will multiply exponentially.
- It simply does not make sense in the minds of ordinary people and is just a pipedream of English Heritage dreamers.
