There are several good reasons why this scheme should not go ahead but, to keep it short, damage to this internationally valued landscape once it's happened cannot be undone. It's no good saying "whoops, we didn't mean that" once it's happened. UNESCO think the plans for Stonehenge are just plain wrong and they can look at it objectively, which is more than the government can do. If the government wants to return the landscape to how they assume it once was, they are going to have to do it properly and that will need a much bigger chequebook.
