I do not think the proposed development should be allowed to take place, for the following reasons:
- Stonehenge, a world heritage site, will be irreparably damaged, and its importance as a British landmark as well as its ability to generate revenue will be compromised.
- UNESCO has advised the scheme not go ahead.
- The finds at Blick Mead are of great archaeological importance: the site needs further exploration as it is key to understanding the story of Stonehenge and our country's history.
- There are other far more cost effective, practical and protective options that have not been looked into in the consultation process. The site could be saved for future generations. It is one of a very few iconic sites in the UK and to compromise it in this way makes no sense, historically or economically.
