I do not believe that this tunnel and associated roadworks represents the best solution to traffic issues on the A303 and will serve no purpose other than moving the holdups further along to put greater stress on other single carriageway stretches. In addition, the damage proposed to the WHS Stonehenge is on a catastrophic scale, amounting to permanent and irreparable destruction of the landscape and it's architectural value. Further, the historic view of Stonehenge will be denied to all travellers and would-be visitors who are not paying guests of English Heritage, who already exercise a monopoly on Stonehenge, instead of acting simply as custodians.
