Stonehenge is a World Heritage site. The purpose and mystery surrounding these stones eludes and fascinates us after all this time.

At present, the 303 passes a respectable distance from these stones, affording drivers a view of the ancient monument as they travel to and from the Westcountry. Whilst there are occasionally delays on the section, these do not warrant the expansion of the road, neither do they warrant the building of underpasses or any of the alternative measures proposed.

It is impossible to alter the road in this section without destroying monuments including a long barrow. This is surely unacceptable in a World Heritage site. I am a driver who passes by this area per week and I do not see the additional convenience as worthy of the consequences.

Already much of the 303 is dual carriageway. Those sections that are single carriageway should remain as such - there are other things far more important than decreasing journey times at any cost, which seems to be the appetite of the day.
