The traffic around Stonehenge is infamous, and I agree that some road building would be beneficial.

However, I am deeply concerned about the planned A303 expansion. I believe that the genuinely unique nature of the site has been undervalued.

Part of the reason the traffic is so bad there is because people are slowing down to view Stonehenge. This should be taken as evidence of an enduring fascination and resonance with the monument, confirming its importance, not that it should be hidden and ignored just to reduce traffic by the easiest method. Traffic jams are not of World Heritage importance.

Please allow further consultation to enable schemes that will not damage this irreplacable site. The Stonehenge site is a monument belonging to all people. It's preservation and access to it should be the utmost priority in any development in the vicinity.
