The plan to build approach road cuttings, flyovers and other elements for a tunnel /expressway through the world heritage site are appalling. Not only will they cause permanent damage to the WHS, they will destroy archaeology for all time and totally change the setting and environment of arguably Britain’s most significant ancient monument. The scheme is vandalism.

It is also a waste of public money when more modern techniques could be used to tackle traffic management on the A303 - such as smart motorway techniques, tolling, traffic calming, restrictions on HGVs and digital messaging to the public to encourage use of alternative routes/or driving times to the south west in the six week summer holiday season.

Money not spent on the tunnel could be used to upgrade alternative routes.

And where are the alternative options. Why are alternatives not being considered?

This is a 19th century solution to a 21st century problem. There has to be a better, cheaper way.
