The proposed plans for the tunnel at Stonehenge are utterly ridiculous and I cannot comprehend how anyone can consider them in any way serious or sensible.

UNESCO has awarded the area World Heritage Site status and this should have precluded such nonsensical ideas from the get go. UNESCO has raised grave concerns about the damage that is likely to be inflicted on the stones themselves and the surrounding area but there does not seem to have been any attempt to access or engage with independent experts on the civil engineering challenges that these plans create.

Secondly, there is the issue of no longer being able to view the stones from the road as is currently possible, which would dramatically alter the character of the area, entirely negatively.
