Stone henge is a unique and ancient monument, unparalleled in significance, and its protection deserves greater priority than whether traffic flows smoothly on the nearby A303. When I drive to Devon from St Albans, which I do several times each year, I find taking the M4/M5 is equally convenient to the A303, and should be the preferred route from a planning perspective. Planners should slow the A303 using traffic calming, encouraging more cars on the aforementioned motorways
