I object to the proposed A303 Stonehenge Expressway and short tunnel for the following key reasons:

  1. I believe these enormous earthworks will dwarf the Stonehenge WHS and pre-historic earthworks.
  2. Set an appalling precedent for one of the premier and most important WHSs in the world. 3.Cause non reversible damage to this WHS, it's archaeology and setting - identified by UNESCO as a 'landscape without parallel.
  3. Unesco's international advisers say this scheme should not go ahead in it's current design.
  4. Strong concerns about damage to Black Lead Mesolithic site and it's setting.
  5. The loss of the view from the road.
  6. The need to pay to see the Stones in future, despite them being donated to the nation.
  7. Disturbance of extremely rare bird species such as the Stone Curled and Great By staff.
  8. Much increased noise from the faster traffic, affecting the environment and quiet contemplation and enjoyment of this premier WHS.
