I wish to object to the construction of the tunnel and supporting road network and I want instead to preserve the entire site for future generations education and enjoyment

  1. Building the tunnel may be detrimental to the water table putting at risk the state of preservation of the archaeology and ecology of the area.
  2. I do not believe the proposed construction shall last a fraction of the time the archaeology and the henge itself has existed. Therefore repairs renovations or total renewal would seem to be inevitable and there shall always be a danger of mission creep. So potentially more damage deemed necessary in future years or none if left alone.
  3. It is widely believed that more roads merely create more traffic. This traffic would in my view merely become bottle necked further into the West country which in turn would become problems others shall have to create more infrastructure to overcome and that the character of the South West would be at risk of over development with housing, attendant social infrastructure and supporting businesses. Ruining places worth going to see with a means of getting there in a mode of transport that may not last out this century let alone 5000 years. There is no need for the construction to go ahead. There is certainly no need to rush. Thank you for your kind consideration.
