We feel the Western Portal is to close to the Ancient burial Mounds and the Eastern to close to 'Blickmead' Archaeological site, and that there are issues with light pollution to the west and water tables to the East. And that a longer bored tunnel entering and Exiting outside of the World Heritage Site would be preferable. Since this concerns a World Heritage Site we do not feel adequate discussion has been permitted of the alternatives.

We feel that both long and short tunnels should be examined and considered in detail and their respective merits adn demerits submitted to an entirely independent panel of experts consisting al the major archaeologists who have worked at Stonehenge in the last 30 years. In addition, the spiritual elders (Druids Pagans Wiccans and Shamans) who have a living interest in the Stones should also be invited to sit on the panel.

English heritage and other quasi governmental bodies should not sit on this panel, but should be required to give evidence and to service it with all necessary information as requested.

This would follow the model of the work of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission for Stonehenge, that we have always used - bring all parties together and try and reach consensus.

I would be willing to chair this panel as a neutral academic "outsider" or to recommend another chair.

Good luck !

Please dont go ahead with this current tunnel without bringing everyone around the table as suggested in a formal context.
