The Lower Thames Crossing junction with the A13 - “spaghetti junction” - is planned to be one of the very biggest road junctions in Europe used by thousands of diesel and petrol trucks and vehicles daily - day and night. Yet, there will be no - that’s no - sound barriers. The idea that because sound waves move up and down this renders them useless is wrong. There must be as much deflection and absorption of combustion noise as possible. Especially across the north east boundary since the prevailing wind is mostly from the southwest. The calm quiet stillness overnight of the countryside must be respected.
