A122 Lower Thames Crossing PLANNING ACT 208 SECTION 56: NOTIFYING PERSONS OF ACCEPTED APPLICATION THE INFRASTRUCTURE PLANNING (APPLICATIONS: PRESCRIBED FORMS AND PROCEDURE) REGULATIONS 2009: REGULATION 8 THE INFRASTRUCTURE PLANNING (ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT) REGULATIONS 2017: REGULATION 16 Thank you for consulting with Tunbridge Wells Borough Council (TWBC) on the above consultation, which runs until the 24 February 2023. TWBC has considered the letter received from National Highways, dated 09 January 2023, attached Notice and associated documents and wishes to make the following representation. TWBC is in general supportive of this proposed major infrastructure project, which in summary seeks: • A new road connection between the A2 and M2, east of Gravesend in Kent, tunnelling under the River Thames, to then link with the M25 south of junction 29 (Cranham Interchange). TWBC is aware that many disciplines at Kent County Council (KCC) have been heavily involved in the development of this major infrastructure project - including the County Highway Authority, for which National Highways is now seeking development consent from the Planning Inspectorate. TWBC has considered the likely impact of this development on Tunbridge Wells borough, including the strategic road network and the A21 operated by National Highways, which passes through the borough. TWBC considers that the development project is unlikely to have any strategic impact on the borough, and as such raises no objection. It is noted that Kent County Council, including as Highway Authority, will no doubt make its own representations to this consultation, and similarly other Kent authorities located in closer proximity to the proposed development. TWBC hopes this response is of assistance, but please contact us should you have any further queries.
