I am very much against this project particularly at a time when we are becoming more aware of the damage to our environment and the need to protect it. The loss of biodiversity in the UK has been catastrophic. We are one of the least biodiversity countries in the world. This has long term implications for the health of our society. The proposed scheme will only add to this loss, especially, for example to water voles, some reptiles and insects. It will cause the fragmentation of habitats and cause disturbance for nesting and feeding birds etc. Any further risk to our remaining ancient woodland should be avoided - again the UK is one of the least wooded countries. This scheme cannot be justified given the current knowledge about climate change and the importance of preserving our habitats and safeguarding what little biodiversity is left.
