The Lower Thames Crossing will have a huge detrimental effect on local residents, the landscape, ancient woodland and wildlife through air and noise pollution. I do not believe that National Highways gave adequate consideration to the option of improving the Dartford Crossing. This would have been a much more economic, environmental friendly solution. The Lower Thames Crossing may reduce, but not solve, the problems of congestion at the current Dartford Crossing. The new junctions will create rat-runs on local roads. The traffic on the minor roads around the area is forecast to increase considerably. This will impact adversely on local residents. Large areas of agricultural land will be lost at a time when the country is being encouraged to produce its own food. During construction paths for walkers, cyclists, and horse riders will be closed, affecting the health and well-being of many people.
