The expansion of the current highway system encourages traffic growth, increases carbon dioxide emissions to the atmosphere, further suppresses wild life, pollutes our water ways and depletes our natural and finite resources. All to save a few minutes at a road junction. For the equivalent cost of this project, Hampshire County Council could resurface 500km of secondary roads. A much more worthy undertaking.
