If the plans were approved the road works themselves would take a considerable amount of time and cause motorists increased journey times than already present. As we have seen with other road projects the reduced speeds do road closures cause more problems on the road than how they were originally. This will be years of work causing no end of issues for motorists. I understand junction 20A will be closed and replaced. This is used by a lot of traffic accessing various places including Maldon and Boreham. It relieves a lot of traffic on the A12 towards Boreham and relieves the interchange. By closing this junction you will be adding an extra 4 miles or so onto people’s journeys trying to get to Boreham which does not help motorists at all and just increased journey times and distances. I do not think that closing already existing junctions would be beneficial to the road network at all. As a road user of this road everyday for the purposes of getting to work I know the use of this junction as I use it everyday. This would add 5 miles to my journey one way so an extra 10 miles a day because of the junction closure. This would add more time to my journey than having it open with the current situation. This cannot be beneficial to motorists at all.
