Oak Road is a narrow residential turning off the current A12 that is used constantly by heavy goods vehicles and other traffic to reach the Commodity Centre and other commercial sites towards Maldon and Tiptree, causing excessive noise and disruption to residents of Oak Road and Henry Dixon Road. The construction of the existing A12 in the 1060's cut the village of Rivenhall End in two. Re-routing and widening the A12 away from Rivenhall End will solve many issues including relief for residents but more widely it will vastly improve the flow of vehicles along the new A12 especially during commuter time. Currently the A12 frequently suffers from queues near this junction and others nearby during busy work times. The A12 became too dangerous for bus services to stop for passengers leaving some residents without the means of transport to local towns. The de-trunked road will enable the return of a bus service with local stops and safe cycle and pedestrian ways.
