We have been instructed by Nicolas Wright, Pauline Wright, Jeremy Barton Ruggles and Cheryl Elizabeth Ruggles (‘our clients’) who own parcel of land [Redacted] , amounting to approximately 3.41 acres. The parcel was purchased in 2009 for the purpose of growing and harvesting cricket bat willows as part of their wider business. Plans submitted as part of their DCO application propose to permanently acquire a parcel of land (21/3a) within the centre of their plantation. If acquired, this would sever the eastern area of the parcel and make it impossible to maintain and harvest the trees as the access to the parcel is along Worlds End Lane to the western boundary of the parcel. On behalf of the client, we are currently in discussions with Ardent and the VOA, however an alternate access has not been confirmed. We would therefore propose that the parcel acquired be moved to the far eastern part of my client’s ownership under the same acreage which would allow access to the remaining parcel. This would still allow National Highways to meet their requirements, and as they plan to plant with intermittent trees and shrubs, would not affect the scheme materially. Alternatively, we propose a right of access be granted at all times for maintenance and tree abstraction. Yours faithfully, Patrick Downing and Edward Rout on behalf of Nicolas Wright, Pauline Wright, Jeremy Barton Ruggles and Cheryl Elizabeth Ruggles
