I am writing as an individual (long-time and soon returning resident of Greater Manchester). I oppose this project as I believe it is fundamentally irresponsible to plough such sums of money into yet more road expansion at a time of climate emergency, when we urgently need to be funding rail, tram, bus and active travel improvements in Greater Manchester and across the country. Expanding the junction will not reduce congestion, as it will simply induce more demand on the already overcrowded M60, M62 and M66. Efforts should instead be focused on reducing demand for road transport and providing suitable alternatives.
