I wish to register my support for the re-opening of Manston as an airport. I am ex employee and saw the potential for the airport as a centre of employment for local people in an area of high un-employment and this has only been confirmed by finding employment at Gatwick. Also the congestion (land and air) at Gatwick confirms the need for additional (weather separate) Runways in the south east of the U.K. in addition to any runways built at Heathrow or Gatwick. Manston has the ability to take advantage of the development of transport projects such as the lower Thames crossing and HS1 (and improvements to classic lines) in the South East. Population distribution dictates that Heathrow will always be the major U.K. Airport but distributed alternatives help in times of high congestion (land and air) or severe weather.
