I object to the re-use of Manston Airport for aviation on the grounds that it has failed over a very long period of time and under several companies to make a profit, to provide many well paid jobs or much related business activity elsewhere in Thanet. A lot of money was lost by the public when if was listed on the London Stock Exchange as "Planestation." This is the triumph of hope over experience.

Environmentally, it will be disastrous. Planes may be quieter than they were but they are still noisy and polluting and Ramsgate is too close and too densely built up.

The alternative proposals will protect a lot of farm land and greenspace that will have to be taken to meet the ever growing housing need targets. The desperate need in this area is for more affordable housing. This is the only opportunity to build a new suburb with all the infrstructure of schools, libraries, surgeries, etc; This will be of benefit also to Minster and the less well off areas of Ramsgate.

As I see it, the local political parties have been taken for a ride by a small pressure group. They continually assert that the entire population supports Manston as an airport because they have been elected. I believe that individual support for a political Party is based on many and sometimes conflicting views.
