My concerns surround the impact a major freight hub will have on the local seaside towns. This is copied from earlier notes: Dear Neighbours: Are you aware of the devastating effects to your daily life and well-being should the potential expansion of Manston into a fully operational FREIGHT HUB airport be granted? THIS EXPANSION AND DEVELOPMENT WILL HAVE A DIRECT IMPACT ON YOUR CURRENT LIVING EXPERIENCE IN HERNE BAY AND BEYOND. HERNE BAY IS ON/UNDER THE FLIGHT PATH TO AND FROM THE RUNWAY: night time flights are going to happen. YOU NEED TO KNOW THIS AND MAKE YOUR VIEWS KNOWN TO THE LOCAL COUNCIL, THE PLANNING AUTHORITIES AND MP’S WHO REPRESENT YOU. So, please take the time to review the DCO produced by RiverOak. Please discuss with your fellow neighbours any adverse implications to your health, property devaluation and loss of the semi-rural quiet, clean environment you have come to expect, enjoy and would hope to continue. The airport is some 25 miles from the nearest motorway (M2) and freight can only move west until it reaches the M20/M25 junctions more than 40 miles away from the airport, only then can it distribute its cargo north, west and south: what a craze place Manston is for a major hub airport expansion. The local infrastructure WILL NOT cope. Night flights have also NOT been rules out either [see the quota system]. Take action now if you feel the need; going to [Redacted] will be a start.
