Graham Denton I have been in favour of Manston Airport remaining an airport since it's closure. I have lived in Thanet all my life and I remember American thunder jets taking off and landing there as a child. This airfield has been used for every type and size of aircraft including American B52, concord, 747, and european airbus A380, so why would this national asset be used for any other purpose than an airport ?

With air traffic reported to be increasing, especially in the south east , it would seem to be an ideal opportunity to take advantage of an existing airport that has been there for more than seventy years. The re-opening of this asset would solve the problem of well above average unemployment in East Kent. The local transport links with the dual carriageway M2-299 right to the airport, a railway line with a new station adjacent to the airport in the planning stage and a ferry port two miles away. The reports I have read indicate that there would be problems with building on the airport site with the water, sewage and infrastructure for using the site for housing or industry. This airport is an asset of national significance and therefore should remain an airport that can assist in relieving of increased air traffic at other south east airports.
