With the saturation point reached for Gatwick and Heathrow for freight, I believe Manston is essential to the UK economy. The Manston site must be protected as a site of historic significance. Reopening Manston will bring prosperity and much needed employment to the area. Reopening Manston will attract other companies to the area, who otherwise wouldn't come. Riveroak have shown their commitment, investing in a DCO, and producing viable plans. The majority of Thanet voters want Manston to reopen as an airport. Manston has the capability to land aircraft in difficulty safely. It also has a very long runway. Reopening Manston will ease congestion on other large Uk airports. Reopening Manston will enable further investment for Thanet in rail and road infrastructure.
