My wife and I have lived in this area for over 45 years and found the provision of a working airport at Manston very convenient, particularly as this obviates a long tedious and expensive journey to other airports from this corner of the UK and the risk of losing flights due to road holdups. In our earlier days in this area we regularly used these facilities for destinations such as Yugoslavia and the Italian Lakes and we always hoped for Salzburg too as we have family there. Should the airport reopen which is our greatest hope, we still hope that one day Salzburg will be included as a destination from Manston as we would find this so convenient. There are now improved road links in this area which speak for themselves when considering the importance of this site being reopened as an airport. There has also been talk of a new rail link to Manston. We are now retired and are looking forward to more overseas travel. I have no issue with flights over our property and consider Manston as a vital component for employment and an asset to our burgeoning healthy part of the United Kingdom. Manston has one of the longest runways in Europe which makes it really important strategically for obvious reasons and probably one of the reasons this airport was initially sited here.
