The RiverOak proposals for Manston Airport should be allowed to progress as:
- There is a need to provide increased airport capacity in the south east of the UK. Despite the proposal for an additional runway at Heathrow, still many years away, the reopening of Manston would provide additional capacity for cargo operations, thereby relieving Gatwick & Heathrow. Passenger flights may, hopefully, return.
- This area of east Kent is a deprived area which needs additional work opportunities, and, hopefully, aircraft engineering and maintenance operations would restart, thereby providing skilled work and apprentice positions
