I feel very strongly that Manston should re-open as an airport for the following reasons:

History. The site is an important piece of UK aviation heritage and to lose it as such would be a travesty.

Commerce/employment. Manston as a thriving airport be it for simply freight or freight plus passengers would be a tremendous and sustained boost to the local economy and go a long way to solving many of Thanet's current employment problems; building a massive housing estate would simply add to them.

Selfish! One of the reasons we moved to Thanet was the fact there was a local airport as the thought of not having to struggle to Gatwick or further meant flying on holiday could be a pleasure not a chore. We also miss seeing the variety of aircraft that visited especially a 747 on final approach across Ramsgate - such a thrill. Coupled to this were the various airshows that the airport once hosted, what a loss!
