I and my family want Manston reinstated as an airport. The population in the Kent area warrants a regional airport it would release pressure from Gatwick and Heathrow. There is enough land suitable in the surrounding area of Thanet for the proposed housebuilding without having the loss and viability of the future long term employment prospects that the airport will bring to the area. Dover has the cruise line dockings and with the proposed future expansion of the harbours in Dover and Ramsgate the airport will be an enormous assett for both cargo and passengers . Regarding housebuilding on the airport site, employment would be in the short term with financial benefit for the few when a fully operational airport will bring much needed long term work prospects for this deprived area.
