- Housing is not the best use of the airport
- Water supplies may be totally inadequate and the rainfall in Thanet is quite low
- Thanet’s unemployment issues have always been difficult and I had to leave the area as a young man to work in London and become professionally qualified and have a very good career as a specialist tax consultant with Price Waterhouse in the mid 1970’s.
- Housing only produces jobs in the construction industry on a temporary basis. An airport will Produce long term employment prospects for lots of classes of people just as other airports do.
- The highways infrastructure around Manston is seriously lacking with 17000 vehicles a day going through Manston Village on a very tiny road.
- The road going through Acol is seriously overused already such that a series of speed bumps and traffic calming measures are now in place.
- With more housing (which hopefully you will reject) serious other issues arise such as doctors’ surgeries most of which are struggling very seriously with too many people on the books. I know several doctors who begin very early each day and don’t finish all their paperwork until late into the evening sometimes up to 11pm
- I think the Government’s plan to build 17400 Dwellings in Thanet is flawed without industry being here.
