  1. Housing is not the best use of the airport
  2. Water supplies may be totally inadequate and the rainfall in Thanet is quite low
  3. Thanet’s unemployment issues have always been difficult and I had to leave the area as a young man to work in London and become professionally qualified and have a very good career as a specialist tax consultant with Price Waterhouse in the mid 1970’s.
  4. Housing only produces jobs in the construction industry on a temporary basis. An airport will Produce long term employment prospects for lots of classes of people just as other airports do.
  5. The highways infrastructure around Manston is seriously lacking with 17000 vehicles a day going through Manston Village on a very tiny road.
  6. The road going through Acol is seriously overused already such that a series of speed bumps and traffic calming measures are now in place.
  7. With more housing (which hopefully you will reject) serious other issues arise such as doctors’ surgeries most of which are struggling very seriously with too many people on the books. I know several doctors who begin very early each day and don’t finish all their paperwork until late into the evening sometimes up to 11pm
  8. I think the Government’s plan to build 17400 Dwellings in Thanet is flawed without industry being here.
